Wednesday brings with it sunshine and a constant sweet drip of maple sap. Big & small trees both running today, except those on the far north end of the woods. Chuck & Jack boiled in a lot of sap today, which included the leftover sap from yesterday. Grandpa Clarence would be bewildered by the weather we are having, a high of 35 degrees with a northern wind and we still had lots of sap.

Jack, Nickie, Dale & Bob started gathering, with Gary, Gerri, Brad, Ted & Nancy wandering in fashionably late. Together, we collected 520 gallons of sap from the woods & 4 gallons from the Sandhill Rd. annex forest which poor Chuck collected all alone!

Even Petey is tired as he is napping in our favorite camp chair! The H tractor is back in use and never got stuck today!! It’s going to be cold tonight, as the temperature dropped the sap trailer was getting slick near the end (slush forming on the deck!) We decided to quit early again (if you call 9 early) and the guys will boil the rest of the sap in tomorrow.

Total sap: 1824 gallons

Total syrup: 27 gallons
