Wow, huge run today! Jack discovered the sap buckets running over early in the day. A tree blew down across the entrance to the north path so job number one, upon arrival at the woods, was taking the chainsaw out and addressing that issue. John & Gerri (who are not 25 anymore) gathered between 1 and 3 pm to get a head start on the process. The South path more than filled the tank (325 gallons) and the north path had 290 gallons. Jack drove the tractor and is well aware of what we meant earlier when we said the heater was not working! He has not reset his internal thermostat yet after being in the Sunshine State for a few months. Sap collection reinforcements arrived after work and Bob, Muff, Kevin, Jenny, Gary, Ed, Hannah, Chris, Heath & Susan gathered while Mike drove the tractor. Total sap was 895 today. Bob says he is too tired to remember but believes they took off 9-13 gallons of syrup. We will have to check on that and send out sap and syrup totals tomorrow.
