Mar 11
We are posting out of order this week but that’s just how things go during the syrup season! Friday the 11th of March finds things quiet in the woods. The trees are dripping this evening but not enough to warrant gathering (and none of our faithful volunteers have dry clothes anyway!) We are taking this opportunity to order a pizza, wash clothes, and open the mail (yuck).
Several people have inquired about getting syrup & how much it costs. We haven't had much time to bottle anything lately. The syrup that is made at the sugar camp is not entirely the finished product. We reheat and filter the syrup another time before it is bottled into the smaller containers you keep in your fridge! We will begin to have some available in plastic jugs by the pint & quart (picture above).
We have some very cool glass jars that Chuck has etched by hand and many of these have foil toppers or wax-dipped lids that make very nice gifts. The syrup we have made this year (so far) is much lighter than what you see in the photo. Jack often makes up orders around the holidays for any special requests, but he understands everyone is "in the mood" to try some now. We do not try to sell to the masses, just our acquaintances.
